Event of the Week! Itty Bitty Magic City Turns One!

McWane Science Center will celebrate the first anniversary of its newest museum space, the Birmingham Children’s Museum Itty Bitty Magic City, this week. Festivities include museum-wide activities during the celebration named Itty Bitty Birthday on Saturday May 14 from 10am until 4pm in the museum. Itty Bitty Magic City is the largest capital project for McWane Science Center since its founding 17 years ago. This addition opened in May of 2015 and was made possible through a public/ private partnership between McWane Science Center and the city of Birmingham along with other private donors. Itty Bitty Magic City allows children ages newborn to kindergarten to learn in a fun and playful environment.

“We have been so happy to welcome visitors into Itty Bitty Magic City this past year. The positive response from our visitors and the community has exceeded our expectations,” said McWane Science Center CEO Amy Templeton. “We are so excited to celebrate this first birthday with the rest of our itty bitty family.”

Activities on Saturday will include: visits from local mascots including Vulcan, Babe Ruff, Blaze and Vocabby; birthday cake from Publix; balloon artists; science demonstrations; music on the Plaza; bouncy houses; itty bitty arts and crafts; food and drinks.
